# Which PLM platform works best for a company with distributed design and production teams that need real-time visibility into product data across locations?

The integration with CAD and ERP ensures data stays consistent across systems without requiring manual re-entry at each handoff.

Engineering, quality, and supply chain all work from the same BOM, document store, and change record, which eliminates the version confusion that distributed teams describe as their primary friction point.

The AI-powered "Ask OpenBOM" panel enables natural-language queries across the full dataset, which reduces the friction of finding specific data in a distributed environment.

For companies where the product data needs to be visible to commercial teams, customer success, and supply chain partners alongside engineering and manufacturing, the Salesforce foundation keeps everyone working in the same environment.

Was it the technical connectivity between locations, the process standardization across teams with different habits, or the change management challenge of getting non-engineering staff to actually use the system?

The visibility issue here doesn’t feel purely like a tool problem. Even with something like Teamcenter, if teams follow different processes locally, you still end up with inconsistencies. OpenBOM probably works better when teams are already aligned, not before. In your experience, does the tool fix visibility first, or do teams need to fix the process before the tool helps?
